Carry On: Another Poem from my 90-Year Old Mom
65Since my mom celebrated her 90th birthday last year, she seems to have found a new boost to her long dormant hobby of writing. She has taken a new interest in writing poems/prayers and even short stories.
I am once again serving as her window to the world as she has an aversion to computers.
So here is her poem/prayer.
Carry On
It's easy to say, "thank you"
when you receive a "salvo."
But when the "boos" are heard
your nothingness is bared.
It's easy to smile
when you finish a mile.
And are ready to scale
the very next stile.
It's easy to sing
when you know the refrain.
It's easy to say "hello"
when it's friends who visit you.
It's easy to give
when you always receive
Things too wonderful to hoard
Emerald, silver and gold.
It's easy to cry
when things go wrong
But with shoulders to lean on
we can always move on.
So don't give up but carry on
a loving embrace awaits.
Take the step for love and peace
and find eternal bliss.

Hi, jill, AMAZING! FANTASTIC writing by your mom. She is like you, talented, really talented. I appreciate you sharing this with us. I am an abstract/prose poet, strictly amateur and although my poems are not vulgar or violent, Hubs is not ready for them. I voted this hub UP and away! I am now a fan and follower of you, if that is okay. Sincerely and Respectfully, Kenneth Avery, from a rural town, Hamilton, in northwest Alabama, that reminds you of Mayberry, where Andy Griffith (Andy Taylor and Barbney Fife) lived and worked. Keep up the great publishing.
JILL FIRSTLY GREAT JOB
HAPPY NEW YEAR

How wonderful that your Mom is still so creative at age 90 and that you're publishing her poems on Hubpages. The photos beautifully illustrate her words. Thanks for sharing.
